Effective August 1, 2007 the City of Lloydminster joined the Alberta Electronics Recycling Program. This will allow residents on both the Alberta and Saskatchewan side of Lloydminster to dispose of end-of-life electronic equipment (computers, monitors, televisions, etc.) at the landfill. The used equipment will then be collected and recycled by qualifed processors. The Alberta Electronics Recycling Program came into effect in October 2004, with the Saskatchewan Waste Electronic Equipment Program (SWEEP) became effective February 1, 2007. The entire City of Lloydminster will use the Alberta program for recycling electronics.

Effective October 1, 2007 retailers in Lloydminster will begin to collect an environmental fee on the sale of certain new electronics. These fees will range from $5.00 to $45.00 per item and will help to defray the costs of collection, transportation and recycling of electronics.

The City of Lloydminster landfill can be reached by travelling straight north on 40th Avenue for approximately 3.5 km - the landfill is located on the east side of the road; OR from 50th Avenue, turn east on 67th street and travel approximately 1.75 km, then turn north and the landfill will be on the east side of the road.
