Bylaw 24-2001 passed by City Council on August 7, 2001 prohibits disposal of corrugated cardboard in the Sanitary Landfill and subjects violators to a fine or imprisonment. This regulation comes into effect on September 1, 2001.
Corrugated Cardboard boxes used to transport other wastes will have to be emptied, flattened and placed in the Recycle Bin as instructed by the Gate Attendant.
Corrugated cardboard as well as other acceptable material may be set out with the Blue Box as well as taken to the Recycle Depot located at 1223 - 50 Avenue during normal operating hours or placed in the Drop-off Bins after hours. Various contractors are also available to collect recycle material from businesses and apartments.
Cardboard can be recycled to reduce Landfill waste volumes and minimize the cutting of trees. All users of the City of Lloydminster Sanitary Landfill are requested to comply with this new regulation and refrain from taking cardboard to the Landfill, if possible. Your co-operation is appreciated.
